Pokemon Go makers Niantic are promising to clamp down on those who are exploiting loopholes in the game.
In a new post on their official website, Niantic outlined the punishments that can be doled out if gamers broke their terms of service.
It appears the days of Poketrainers using bots or mods to game the system could be a thing of the past, as Niantic has promised to permaban anyone caught using backdoor methods to get ahead in the game.
“This includes, but is not limited to: falsifying your location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Pokémon GO clients or backends in an unauthorized manner including through the use of third party software.
“Our goal is to provide a fair, fun and legitimate game experience for everyone. We will continue to work with all of you to improve the quality of the gameplay, including ongoing optimization and fine tuning of our anti-cheat system.”
This could also see an end to GPS spoofing – where players tweak their settings to make the game believe you’re in another country to catch rarer monsters.
Niantic went on to add that anybody who saw their account suspended should not mention too many details on social media due to “privacy reasons”. Instead the company insists that if your account does get suspended, you’re better off applying for the ban to be lifted using this form.
With Pokemon Go set to unveil a new system for tracking Pokemon, it appears Niantic is preparing to take Pokemon Go to its next level.
