These are tense times for those connected with Arsenal Football Club.
The £30m-odd capture of Granit Xhaka already seems like a lifetime ago, and the signing of Rob Holding is simply not enough to satisfy some of the club’s transfer-hungry supporters.
It seems obvious that the club could do with a defender or two before transfer deadline day is up. Pre-season injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista have left the club light at the back and it was widely expected that Arsene Wenger would move to bring in some reinforcements for his backline.
But so far, there have been no further additions. Their pursuit of German international defender Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia appears to have hit the buffers (for now, at least) and things have got *so* bad that reports are even starting to circulate that Arsenal might have to pay *£25m* to sign *Jonny Evans* from West Brom.
With days remaining of the summer transfer window, it’s now reaching the point where factions of the Arsenal support are frustrated to the point that they’re willing to burn Wenger at the stake.
At least Aaron Ramsey appears to be a bit more relaxed about things. Far away from the club’s disgruntled supporters, the Welsh midfielder revealed his fancy new hairdo this week.
Gone is his blond Euro 2016 look, replaced by this:

It didn’t take long for one supporter to use Ramsey’s flamboyant new hairstyle as a way of demonstrating just how crucial it is that Wenger brings in a new defender.
Drawing attention to the two lines that are shaved into the side of the 25-year-old’s head, the image below shows that bringing in a new centre back will greatly increase Arsenal’s title chances. Obviously, regardless of whether Arsenal *do* manage to bring in a new face, it will do little to prevent their inevitable late-season slump. At least they can pretend they’re still in with a shout at Christmas, though.
