Footballer “tried to carve his initials into the Colosseum with a coin”

Bulgaria international Blagoy Georgiev might never have played for Roma, but he’s already left more of an impact on the Italian capital than Ashley Cole.

The midfielder was on holiday with his girlfriend when he visited the Colosseum and thought it would be a smart move to carve his initials into the iconic building with a coin. Apparently that’s a big no-no.

Not only was the Rubin Kazan player arrested for his efforts, but he had his coin confiscated. Talk about rubbing salt into the wound.

Georgiev will want to move on from the episode now, and treat it as ancient history.

Hopefully his antics haven’t left his career in ruins.
