Growing up, you were supposed to hate Triple H.
A narcissistic selfish shithead of a wrestler, it was Hunter Hearst Helmsley who was the villain to some of the Attitude Era’s greatest wrestlers.
He screwed the Rock out of multiple title shots. He got Stone Cold run over. HHH was a bad dude.
But now we’re all a little bit older and (hopefully) wiser, a lot of us are beginning to see Triple H for the anti-hero he is.
Triple H is a man who makes the wrestlers you care about matter. Now head of EVP Talent, Live Events & Creative at WWE, it is under his watch that their development brand, NXT, became one of the best wrestling programmes around.
Modern day wrestling fans like him so much, that in 2014, after the NXT TakeOver: R Evolution show, the Internet Wrestling Community sent Hunter Hearst Hemsley a fruit basket as way of thank you.
Thanks for the fruit basket @reddit but I'm at @WWENXT working with the future. #WWEArchivistAteIt @WWE pic.twitter.com/fs8ogk2rGa

So when Triple H disappeared from our television screens after losing the WWE Title to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 32, fans were wondering if he’d ever come back.
This Monday night, Triple H made his return, and with some aplomb.
SPOILERS FOR MONDAY NIGHT RAW TO FOLLOW.
With Finn Balor having to vacate the new WWE Universal Title following picking up a nasty shoulder injury at SummerSlam, this week’s main event would crowd a new champion.
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Big Cass all featured in a Fatal Four-Way title match, and after Big Cass was eliminated, many expected one of the former Shield members to run away with the championship gold.
Only Triple H arrived.
Appearing from out of the crowd, Triple H quickly laid out nemesis Roman Reigns with a Pedigree, before instructing his protege Seth Rollins to eliminate him.
Work done, many expected Triple H to do away with Kevin Owens after, to allow his student Seth, who also uses the Pedigree as a finishing move, to take the title.
Only it was time for another SHOCKING SWERVE.
Ladies and Gentlemen… we have a new WWE Universal Champion.
Triple H. Making the wrestlers you care about matter.
