José Mourinho’s face is a picture after Feyenoord fans sing You’ll Never Walk Alone

He's not taken it well.

In case you hadn’t heard, Manchester United lost their first Europa League game under José Mourinho last night.

A controversial goal from Tonny Vilhena handed Feyenoord a 1-0 win in Rotterdam, and a draw between Zorya Luhansk and Fenerbahce leaves the Red Devils bottom of Group A after the opening round of fixtures.

When United were eliminated from the competition by Liverpool in the 2015/16 quarter-finals, the first-leg defeat at Anfield featured the traditional rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

But Liverpool aren’t the only club to adopt the tune, and it just so happens that the 14-time Dutch champions are among the others.

We assure you it’s not just a Dirk Kuyt thing, or even a Brad Jones thing, but the home fans at De Kuip know their football and will have been well aware of the association even if that wasn’t their primary motive for singing YNWA at full-time.

And Mourinho wasn’t the best at hiding his emotions, whether it was leftover anger at the offside goal being allowed to stand or fury at what he interpreted as being goaded with a Liverpool favourite.

He has the face of a schoolkid who has seen a bully steal his packed lunch, unwrap is slowly, then eat and savour it in front of him.

We’re sure plenty of Liverpool fans will have enjoyed this, even if it wasn’t strictly done for their benefit.
