WhatsApp’s major new update is becoming more like Snapchat

Trying to stay ahead of the game.

Everyone seems to be copying Snapchat’s model when it comes to updating their apps, with Instagram introducing stories and Twitter introducing story-like ‘moments’.

It seems that messaging service WhatsApp are also jumping on the Snapchat-alike bandwagon in their latest update, which borrows heavily from the time-limited communication app.

In a blog post WhatsApp wrote:

“Today we’re introducing new ways to customise and enhance the photos and videos you share with friends and family around the world. With WhatsApp’s new camera features, you can now write or draw on photos and videos, as well as add emoji to express yourself.

“When you capture a new photo or video or share one that’s already on your phone, you’ll automatically see the new editing tools. Whether you’re drawing a big red heart to show how much you miss someone or adding your favourite emoji – sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. Try adding text too, and change the colour and font style.”

But iPhone users will have to wait as the new features will be rolling out on Android only from today. The features will be coming to iPhone ‘soon’ according to WhatsApp.
