20th spot on the list of Premier League goalscorers is fast approaching for Sergio Aguero.
The Manchester City striker is just three goals shy of overtaking Ryan Giggs and making it on to the list of England’s top flight’s most reliable goalscorers.
Aguero is currently on 107 for City which isn’t too shabby considering he’s only been with the Etihad outfit for five years.
But at 28 and flourishing under the guidance of new manager Pep Guardiola, there’s still an awful lot of goals left in the Argentine striker.
When asked to name his favourite Premier League goalscorer, Aguero selected a midfielder and a former teammate as his personal choice, although he found time to compliment the Newcastle legend who tops the list.
“There are some great names in the Premier League top 20, but without a doubt, for his goal tally and lead over everybody else, Alan Shearer deserves to be on the podium,” Aguero told City’s official website.
“That said, there are a number of other players I admire. I’d say it’s a matter of taste or playing style because the Premier League has hosted many of the greats – and still does: Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and Thierry Henry to name just a few.
“But as my personal favourite, I’d like to choose Frank Lampard, who in spite of not being necessarily a striker, stands among the top 10 goal-scorers. That deserves praise.
“I had the chance to play alongside him and it was a valuable experience. He’s every inch a professional and a man you can respect.”
