Premier League clubs’ non-existent chance of signing Neymar officially dashed

He's signing a new Barca contract instead

Rob Burnett

Barcelona fans rejoice: Neymar is staying put – and for another five years.

The Brazilian superstar has been a key part of the incredible ‘MSN’ front three along with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp.

Touted as the best forward line in the history of football, the trio have helped Barca sweep to win after win, title after title, trophy after trophy.

But it appeared there might be trouble on the horizon when reports began to emerge that the Brazil star was unhappy at the club – and was considering jumping ship, perhaps to megabucks sides Manchester United or Manchester City.

And those reports were in *no way* deliberate leaks by his agent designed to prompt the Barca hierarchy into agreeing to his client’s demands.

But now, those absolutely genuine hopes United and City had of bringing Neymar to the Premier League are over – at least for the next five years.

Yes, the Samba star is signing a new deal with Barcelona.

The club announced the news this afternoon, confirming that he would put pen to paper on Friday.

What might have been, eh United/City fans? Never mind. Maybe you’ll get Messi instead.
