Hector Bellerin snubs Barcelona and agrees big money new deal to stay at Arsenal

A huge boost for the Gunners

To those of you that thought Hector Bellerin was destined to end up back at Barcelona in the next year, think again.

According to reports, the Arsenal right back has agreed a new long term contract which will see him stay in north London, becoming one of the club’s highest earners in the process. Although the deal is yet to be inked by the Spaniard, word from his agent suggests this is simply a matter of time.

“We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago,”Albert Botines is quoted as saying in the Mirror.  “In a normal situation he will sign.”

“Hector is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”

Bellerin, who signed for the club from Barcelona as a teenager, was reportedly the subject of an approach from Manchester City over the course of the summer.

Modern football being the way it is, a signed contract doesn’t necessarily mean a player will stick around for its duration. However, it does mean that Arsenal will pocket a considerably larger transfer fee for the player if he does move on from the Emirates in the near future.

A real boost for Arsenal as the club prepare to tie down Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez to improved deals.
