Philippe Coutinho attempts to recreate *that* Dennis Berkamp goal

Not bad...

There’s a good chance you’ve already seen BT Sport’s #GoalsRecreated videos.

It’s pretty self explanatory really. Famous Premier League goals from yesteryear are recreated by current or recently-retired footballers.

Not so long ago, we saw Rio Ferdinand have a crack at Paul Scholes’ Valley Parade volley…

And Riyad Mahrez emulate Charlie Adam’s goal from halfway at Stamford Bridge…

Now though, in one of their new videos, BT have asked Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho to have a stab at a certain Dennis Bergkamp goal scored against Newcastle in 2002.

We’d get into trouble if we went and dropped the video of the goal in this story, but we’re pretty sure you don’t need us to jog your memories, anyway.

Robert Pires fires the ball in to the Dutchman, who is on the edge of the area with his back to goal as the ball arrives at his feet.

Tightly marked by Nikos Dabizas, Bergkamp spins anti-clockwise as he flicks the ball around the defender with his left foot.

Instantly, Bergkamp is beyond the defender and bearing down on goal. He calmly side foots into the corner, beyond Shay Given. Brilliant.

Scarily, Coutinho was just ten when Bergkamp scored that goal, and in the video below, he attempts to reproduce it with James Milner assuming the role of Dabizas.
