Louis van Gaal hasn’t been afraid to spend big since arriving at Old Trafford. In just over a year, the Dutchman has splashed out over £220m on new players.
But apparently that isn’t enough, as Manchester United are now thought to be lining up a £40m bid for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Kane – who scored 22 goals last season – was left on the bench for Spurs’ victory over AC Milan, with some believing his absence is linked to United’s interest.

It’s unlikely that Spurs will part easily with their leading man, but they may find it difficult to turn down £40m for a player who has only been a first-team regular for one season.
Both teams will want to come to a solution before they meet on the opening day of the season. United could help sweeten the deal by throwing in Mexican striker Javier Hernandez as Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is a known admirer.
