Bastian Schweinsteiger is back for Manchester United as injury strikes

He lives!

Patrick McCarry

Jose Mourinho suggested, earlier this season, he would not be selecting Bastian Schweinsteiger again but needs must.

An injury to Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin’s continued absence sees the German drafted into the Manchester United squad for their league clash with West Ham.

Schweinsteiger only makes the bench but any appearance would be his first of the season.

Jesse Lingard comes into the starting XI in place of Carrick while Marcus Rashford starts ahead of Wayne Rooney. Interestingly, Marcos Rojo is at centre back with Daley Blind on the bench.

As for the Hammers, Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph gets the nod from Slaven Bilic and Mark Noble returns from suspension, but Winston Reid misses out after his late red card at Tottenham last week.
