King’s Guards are back at it again
Back when they were simply called Queen’s Guards (RIP Queen Elizabeth II), the guards for the monarch made headlines with their commitments towards the job.
Anyone whose been to London and visited the likes of Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London should know exactly what to expect from the no-nonsense cavalry and other infantry members serving around royal residences.
Now, a King’s Guard had a little girl running away in terror after he marched towards her and yelled ‘stand clear’.
In a viral video shared on TikTok, the guard can be seen walking from an alleyway with so much purpose and a sword in hand.
Meanwhile, in his path a young girl can be seen standing obliviously – because that’s what children do – while possibly posing for a picture.
Focused on getting the little one out of the way, so he can continue his march, the guard shouts ‘stand clear,’ right before she runs out of sight as the guard carries on like nothing happened.
The video has been viewed more than 3.4 million times has left people online divided and debating away.
Many thought he was out of hand, with one writing: “Regardless what their job is. That’s mean and uncalled for.”
Commenting on the clip, one person said: “Did he really need to scare the little one like that?”
A third wrote: “Guys how was she supposed to know he was gonna walk round the corner?”
However, others felt sorry for the guard, arguing that he was simply doing what he was hired to do.
One person wrote: “Parents should’ve told the kid to stay close, it’s not exactly a well kept secret that the King’s Guards are scary and shout.”
A second person agreed: “These guys are not a public attraction they carry out a duty.”
A third chipped in, saying: “People really think he’s going to be like ‘oh excuse me sweetheart can you move?'”
Thankfully, the little girl was not stepped on, or hurt.
Back in July, a TikTok video which captured the moment a member of the Queen’s Guard screaming at a tourist for touching his horse went viral too on social media.
In the short clip posted user Ethan, a.k.a. @_phigs, you can see the moment the Queen’s guard screams at the woman, his unsuspecting step-mum, after he grows irritated by her grabbing the reins.

Despite the poster suggesting the guard “verbally attacked” his step-mother, the pair received little sympathy in the comments below, with most people asking “at what point did he attack” or simply advising, “They have a job, just don’t go near them.”
While some obviously found the funny side and a few even echoed Ethan’s statement that “he was a rather angry man”, most were quick to point out that you’re not supposed to touch the horse and certainly not the reins; as one person remarked: “Would she grab the steering wheel if someone was driving??”
Not only are horses, obviously, very powerful creatures and can be disturbed by many a distraction – hence blinkers – but we’ve seen plenty instances of Queen’s Guard putting the public in their place.
