She has been signed up for the role, reportedly.
So it looks like Cheryl (formerly Tweedy / Cole / Fernandez-Versini. Now just Cheryl) will not be returning to the X Factor this year. Instead, she will reportedly be jumping ship from ITV to the BBC *snake emoji*.
It comes after reports a few months back that Simon Cowell had a master plan to revive his talent contest by bringing her back to the judging panel, however, it now seems she will be moving over to the world of dancing.
The 34-year-old (you feeling old, or what?) has instead signed up to new BBC prime time show, The Greatest Dancer, serving as a ‘Dance Captain’, which seems like it’s pretty similar to the ‘mentor’ role on X Factor.
According to The Sun, the judges filmed a tester for the show on Tuesday night, with Alesha Dixon and Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo taking on the role of hosts.
A source told the paper: “Cheryl’s always been associated with ITV. She was made a star by Popstars: The Rivals.
“Moving to the BBC is a huge deal for her. It’s a trial run at this point. But everyone is hoping it’ll get the green light.”
Oti Mabuse from Strictly Come Dancing and Matthew Morrison from Glee will also appear alongside Cheryl.
