Silent Bob is in good spirits after his recent heart attack. Great to see.
Following his recent health scare, it’s great to see that Kevin Smith hasn’t lost any of his sense of humour despite the “massive heart attack” he suffered. The director is on the mend and has shared a typically self-deprecating message with his fans to say that he’s recovering well.
“I didn’t piece together I was having a heart attack, even though my chest was heavy and even though my father died at the age of 67 died of a massive heart attack,” he said.
The director of Clerks and Mallrats praised all the medical staff, paramedics and first responders that helped him while jokingly saying that prior to his heart attack, he smoked two joints earlier that day.
Smith then spoke a little about the incident. The director of Dogma said that after violently coughing, he discovered mucus which he felt was solely due to his lifelong habit of smoking. Smith then had to lie down before vomiting – he attributed this to some ‘bad milk’ he had earlier in the day.
Throughout the video, it’s clear that Smith is in good spirits as he jokes about the paramedics shaving his groin before thanking fans for their well wishes.
In particular, he thanked Chris Pratt who came in for criticism for tweeting, “Kevin we don’t know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I’m praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!?”
As stated previously, some people were heavily critical of the Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy star but Smith was full of praise for Pratt.
Granted, that’s what Pratt believes and regardless of your religious beliefs, the actor is entitled to express his opinion. This being said, plenty of people were quick to criticise Pratt for what they perceived as hollow words and an empty gesture.
A scan through Pratt’s timeline also shows some people that equated his words with those of various US politicians who sent prayers and thoughts to the survivors of the recent high school shootings. The same politicians who refused to enforce changes to gun control laws.
Here’s what Snith had so say on the whole affair: “Poor Chris Pratt, one of my favorite actors of all time, put up a nice tweet — and apparently some people were like ‘f*** your prayers. Please don’t fight over stuff like that, it’s a waste of time. Whether you’re religious or not, somebody praying for you is with good intentions.”
Heres’ the video in full.
Get well soon, Kevin Smith.
