American Vandal will end after two seasons
Netflix have announced that they are cancelling their documentary-parodying comedy show American Vandal.
Vulture are reporting that producers of the spoof show CBS Studios have however had interest from other outlets about keeping the show alive – so fingers crossed that it the show might not yet have investigated its last piece of crude graffiti.
If you’ve never seen it, American Vandal was a piss-take of hit true-crime shows like Netflix’s own Making A Murderer and the podcast Serial. But instead of investigate real cases of serious law and order, it presented itself as a straight-faced look at poo and dick-based felonies.
Season one was centred around the hunt for person behind a spate of willys being scrawled all over an American high school.
And the second season turned its investigation to heavy loads being left in toilets, thanks to a laxative-wielding villain dubbed “The Turd Burglar”.
The show has been praised by many for its clever subversion of the true-crime clichés, and also for just being well funny and an excuse to feature loads of toilet humour presented with a straight face.
“We’re very grateful to the creators, writers, cast and crew for bringing their innovative comedy to Netflix, and to the fans and critics who embraced its unique and unconventional humor,” said the streaming service, in a statement.
Netflix have been cutting a few shows recently – both Luke Cage and Iron Fist have had the chop this month. The Matt Groening created animation Disenchantment, however, has just been renewed for a second season.
