Well there’s only one month to go until we’ll find out
Andrew Garfield has once again denied rumours that he is appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home – and we’re having none of it.
Fans are convinced that Garfield – who played Spidey in 2012’s The Amazing Spiderman and its 2014 sequel – will be returning to the superhero role in the upcoming Marvel film, along with another previous Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, who made the role his own in director Sam Raimi’s trilogy throughout the 2000s.
This is thanks to the introduction of the multiverse and Dr Strange – and trailers have already confirmed that past villains from previous versions of the franchise will be returning, with the same actors playing their respective roles.
However Garfield has told GQ in a recent interview: “I am not [in No Way Home].”
The likes of Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) will be returning in the new film, along with a host of other characters from previous Spider-Man films.
So far though, both Maguire and Garfield have been absent from the trailers and whether they return or not has been kept as a closely guarded secret.
Of course, that hasn’t stopped fan theories aplenty.
There is just one month to go until current Peter Parker Tom Holland will be returning for his third film as the titular superhero.
Garfield has spent quite a while denying rumours he will be appearing in No Way Home.
Earlier this year, he was asked by Josh Horowitz of the Happy Sad Confused podcast whether questions about Spider-Man would ruin a surprise, to which he replied: “There isn’t anything to ruin bro!”
He continued: “It’s so crazy.
“Dude, it’s f***ing hilarious to me. Because it’s like… I do have this Twitter account and I see how often Spider-Man is trending, and it’s like people freaking out about a thing and I’m just like, ‘Guys…
“I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say, like, I recommend that you chill. I can’t speak for anything else apart from myself, they might be doing something. But I ain’t got a call.
“I don’t want to rule anything out. Maybe they want to call me and say like, ‘Hey, people want this.’ Maybe they’re doing a market research thing!”
Well on December 17 the world will find out.
We wish you all the best of luck in avoiding spoilers.
