Ant McPartlin is going to be back on ITV
Ant McPartlin will return to Britain’s Got Talent on Friday as auditions get underway, the first time he has appeared on the show since he was convicted of drink-driving last year.
The TV presenter, 43, spent a year out of the spotlight after his arrest in March for drink-driving. He was suspended from driving for 20 months and handed an £86,000 drink driving fine.
The news was confirmed on Good Morning Britain on Thursday. Richard Arnold told hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard: “I can officially announce that after a year off Ant will start filming on the new series of BGT.
“Can you believe it has come around again? How the time flies”.
He added that McPartlin is “looking very well”.
McPartlin will reunite with his on-screen partner Declan Donnelly.
Donnelly hosted the series solo during McPartlin’s absence. McPartlin and Donnelly won the best presenter award for the 17th year in a row in the Daytime category for the National Television Awards.
McPartlin checked into rehab in 2017 after struggling with a two-year painkiller addiction following a knee operation.
The star split from his wife Lisa in the beginning of 2018. Two months later he crashed his Mini Cooper while driving more than two times over the legal drink-driving limit.
The accident forced McPartlin to put his career on pause. In addition to Britain’s Got Talent, he pulled out of I’m A Celebrity and Saturday Night Takeaway. He is expected to return to I’m A Celebrity later this year.
