It’s been a long time coming, but No Man’s Sky finally landed on PS4.
UK-based Hello Games’ ridiculously ambitious space exploration and survival game attracted a fair bit of attention when it was announced at E3 2014, but the developers could never have anticipated the ridiculous level of hype that followed.
We’ve already given you our take on just why this massive sci-fi epic is set to be the biggest game of 2016, but in case you’re still scratching your head about what the hell it it actually is, PlayStation have drafted in surrealist stand-up comedian Bill Bailey to give players the lowdown on what to expect.
Bailey begins his journey through No Man’s Sky’s 18 quintillion-planet universe in suitably ambitious fashion. He lands his ship, christens the place ‘Bill-Topia’ and heads off in search of an undiscovered alien species with which he can ‘possibly share a panini’. Would any intergalactic explorer do it differently?

It’s just a shame that the retail version doesn’t actually come bundled with the comic as the trailer suggests. We got excited for a second.
As for JOE’s take on the game, well we can confirm that we’ve played it for about two hours so far and spent most of that time hopping around on the jetpack and trying to make friends with a weird-looking space lizard. If that sounds like enough of a hook for you, then get stuck in.
What’s far more exciting than our own very early stage feedback is that No Man’s Sky creator, Sean Murray, has said that in just 24 hours since release there have been more species discovered by players than exist in reality.
For instance over night we hit 10 million species discovered in NMS… that's more than has been discovered on earth.
