Spoilers ahead…
Phelan’s about to be taken down.
And thank god too because this whole thing has gone on long enough.
He’s killed, he’s lied, he’s betrayed, he’s just about done every little thing under the sun to ruin the people of Weatherfield’s lives and we’re all sick of him, to be quite honest.
It’s been getting closer and closer to Phelan’s demise as of late though, and while we were excited, we had yet to get any actual information about when it was all going to go down.
Until now, that is.
Coronation Street producer Kate Oates has revealed some of the details surrounding Phelan’s downfall and it does not sound like it’s going to be for the faint of heart.
But then again, nothing to do with the lad has been so far.
“What I like about Phelan’s downfall is that it’s very much to do with Eileen. It’s to do with her realising who she’s married.
“It’s to do with Nicola and that child. Promising some highly dramatic action scenes. There’ll be a few twists and turns – we have some stunts coming up, which will be exciting.”
Exciting, indeed.
And that all being said, it would make sense that Eileen’s going to have a big part in this considering she’s been oblivious for so long.
She deserves better after all.
Oates went on:
“2018 is going to see the demise of Phelan. Connor (McIntyre) is so up for this challenge. He’s so excited about it and he’s playing it brilliantly.”
There’s no doubting that anyway.
Phelan might have been doing all our heads in for the past few months, but actor Connor McIntyre has been an absolute gem to watch, in fairness to him.
One might even say that perhaps we’ll miss good ol’ Phelan when all of this is said and done.
Or maybe not.
Probably not.
