The end of an era
Eamonn Holmes has made a shocking announcement that we can’t quite believe, he’s leaving This Morning after 15 years on the show.
Hosting the show for what feels like forever, Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford and had fans howling during their time together hosting the chat show.
According to the host, now was the best time for him to take a step back and move on from the show, heading to work with GB News instead.
Along with the news of him leaving, a source told the Mirror that “all good things come to an end” and that his departure “came just at the right time for him and ITV.”
He is now reported to be hosting his own news-style show a few times a week alongside other big journalists. It is also thought Ruth is “unlikely to stay on the show either following her husband’s departure, having hosted alongside each other since 2006.
Fans are similarly doubtful she will stay on but do expect her to still appear on Loose Women.
Eamonn and Ruth’s hours on the show were reduced last December with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary taking over some of their hosting slots.
Eamonn, however, found himself in a little bit of trouble earlier this year when she suggested there might be a link between 5G and Covid-19 which is said to have upset his bosses at ITV and sparked complaints to Ofcom and was forced to issue an apology.
Giving his support to GB News after the channel initially launched this year, tweeting that he hoped it would have a “decent chance” as a channel.
He said: “We need a shakeup on the news front. I have huge respect for TV news but this is a reminder that news is not just Westminister or a constant woke agenda.”
