You can understand the residents of Walford wanting to get as far away from 2016 as possible.
It has been a turbulent and draining year on Albert Square to say the least.
And if the New Year’s Eve episode trailer is anything to go by, it is heading for an even more explosive climax.
Here's a very sneaky peek at New Year's day on #EastEnders.
Trust us, you don't want to miss it. pic.twitter.com/jHapo3DD9f— BBC EastEnders (@bbceastenders) December 26, 2016
However it seems some on the Square may be a little too keen to see the back of this year after viewers spotted an embarrassing continuity error in last night’s episode.
The Queen Vic appeared to be advertising its party for New Year’s Eve 2017.
The keener mathematicians among you will have already clocked that’s actually for next year.

Now we are not ruling out the possibility that NYE down the The Queen Vic is so popular that you need to book more than 12 months in advance, but it seems more likely that someone just got a little ahead of themselves on the EastEnders set.
Needless to say, viewers of the soap were very quick to pick up on it.
