They knew what they were doing.
You can always rely on Coronation Street for a well-timed joke and the latest comes courtesy of Rovers Return barman Sean Tully.
As viewers might recall from the recent episode involving Sinead’s birthday, Sean decided to make her a birthday cocktail.
He presented it to her, telling her he had “sugared the rim”.
Of course, this sent people watching at home into hysterics at the thought of someone using this rude phrase and before the watershed too.
Sean was referring to the sugar along the rim of the cocktail glass but Liz McDonald quickly picked up on the cheeky side saying: “you don’t get an offer like that everyday”.

Only Sean could manage to say it and not bat an eyelid. And if that didn’t put you off your tea, what about this… ?
Please – for your own sake – do not google what it means. We'll explain… https://t.co/eKZyMVOozS
