Fans think Andrew Garfield actually saves Zendaya in new Spider-Man trailer

All of Spider-Man’s girlfriends literally ‘fall for him’

In the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, Zendaya – who plays Peter Parker’s girlfriend MJ – is seen falling, leading many fans to speculate that it’s actually Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man who saves her.

In the first trailer for the third, highly anticipated Spider-Man instalment, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) asks Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange to rectify a situation. With the whole world in the know about his secret identity, Parker turns to magic to convince people otherwise, which coincidentally unleashes villains from various Spidey multiverses.

Though Marvel has confirmed nothing as of yet – no doubt to keep with their super-secret plans – the general consensus is that previous Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire will be returning to reprise their roles from the Sony universe.

Towards the end of the trailer, Zendaya’s MJ falls from some scaffolding in a scene eerily similar to Gwen Stacey’s death during Garfield’s tenure as the super sticky superhero.

Though the trailer is assembled to look like Holland saves her, fans are not having it and believe this will be Garfield’s reintroduction into the Spider-verse.

“No but look at the look of terror mj gives ned when she realizes she’s falling it’s actually giving me goosebumps zendaya’s so fucking great,” wrote one Twitter user.

“If Andrew Garfield swings in and actually saves Zendaya from falling, I’m leaving the theater,” wrote another.

“I have this feeling na tom won’t able save Zendaya from falling but ANDREW WOULD BE THERE to save mj so it wouldn’t happen AGAIN!!??” wrote a third.

If anything, this just shows that Spider-Man’s arm candy aren’t exactly great at staying upright – but perhaps that’s just his type?
