Ant-Man and The Wasp’s post-credits scene has a massive clue about what might happen in Avengers 4

One line in Ant-man and The Wasp is a massive clue about what might happen in Avengers 4.

One line of dialogue could mean a lot

Ant-Man and The Wasp is finally out in the UK. It was released in America in July, but the release on this side of the Atlantic was delayed due to the World Cup, as no one is going to go to the cinema when the football is on.

Now however, the film is out, and we can talk about spoilers (consider that your official warning for spoilers for both Ant-Man and The Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War).

The big question heading into the Ant-Man sequel was how it fitted into Infinity War and *that* soul-crushing, mind-melting ending. Neither Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man nor Evangeline Lilly’s The Wasp appeared in that movie – did that mean Ant-Man and The Wasp take place before Infinity War? Or during it?

Well, the answer is mostly before it. But there’s the mid-credit scene. With the film’s main narrative over and the day seemingly saved, Scott Lang shrinks down to go into the quantum realm, while The Wasp, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) keep watch in the normal-sized world. But while Ant-Man is down there, the three of them disappear into dust, seemingly all eradicated in Thanos’ plan to kill have the universe – and leaving Ant-Man trapped in the quantum realm.

But before that happens, there is one key line – Janet warns Scott not to get stuck in a  “time vortex.”

Does that mean that time-travel is going to be how the heroes defeat Thanos in Avengers 4? Will Scott harness that time vortex to do so? Coupled with Dr Strange’s ominous speech about going “forward in time to view alternate futures” in Infinity War, it definitely seems like a good bet.

Ok, we still need to know how Captain Marvel fits into all this. And Hawkeye. But expect Ant-Man to play some sort of part in beating Thanos.
