Over 45 million people have watched Bird Box in just seven days
Netflix has been made a habit of being coy about their viewing figures.
As they are a subscription service, and thus don’t rely on advertisers, they don’t have to release any data on how many people are actually watching their shows.
The only really let any information out when they want to rave about how well something has done – like the incredible success of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before earlier this year.
Now, they’ve got another success to shout about: their original horror Bird Box has been watched by 45,037,125 in its first seven days on the streaming service.
Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched Bird Box — best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film! pic.twitter.com/uorU3cSzHR

That is the most successful first week of any Netflix film ever.
Bird Box debuted on December 21st, and seems to have made its way into a lot of people’s Christmas viewing.
The film stars Sandra Bullock as a mother who has to lead her two children through a forest filled with supernatural beings which take the form of your worst fears – so if things weren’t already hard enough, they have to wear blindfolds throughout the whole journey.
It is kind of like A Quiet Place, but with keeping your eyes closed instead of being silent.
Reviews for Bird Box have been mixed so far, but it has got the blessing of horror godfather Steven King.
I was absolutely riveted by BIRD BOX (Netflix). Don’t believe the lukewarm reviews, which may in part have been caused by reviewers’ ambivalence to the streaming platform, as opposed to theatrical releases.
