Disney has appeared to confirm the release date forĀ Indiana Jones 5.

The studio – who has now also acquired 21st Century Fox – has released an updated release schedule going up to 2027. And it includes anĀ Indiana Jones movie scheduledĀ September 9th, 2021.

This release date had been mentioned before, but seeing on an updated release schedule at least implies it is still happening.

Harrison Ford will be 79 by the time the film comes out. If the time difference in movies remains the same as it has been in real life – likeĀ Indian JonesĀ andĀ the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull did –Ā Indy 5 would take place in 1970. That’s a long way from the 1930s Nazi-punching era ofĀ Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Three moreĀ Star WarsĀ movies are on their way, the schedule also confirms.

The news is interesting, as it had previously been announced thatĀ would be taking a break fromĀ Star WarsĀ movies following EpisodeĀ IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

That was largely thought to be the result of the lukewarm response toĀ Solo: A Star Wars Story.

However, on Wednesday, Disney revealed an updated release schedule going up to 2027, and three newĀ Star WarsĀ movies are listed.

The three movies will drop onĀ December 16th, 2022, December 20th, 2024, and December 18th, 2026.

They are all just listed as ‘UntitledĀ Star Wars‘ and no other information is given.

Rian Johnson is reportedly working on a new trilogy of films, to be made when he finishes his next filmĀ Knives Out.Ā Game of ThronesĀ creatorsĀ David BenioffĀ andĀ D.Ā B. Weiss are also supposedly working on a trilogy of their own. Both these series will focus on new characters, and not the main Skywalker storyline, when and if they happen.

Anthology films in the style ofĀ Rogue OneĀ andĀ SoloĀ focusing of Boba Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi have also been planned, but the status of those are in doubt following the muted reception toĀ Solo.
