Ip Man v John Wick
Chad Stahelski has worked on just about every action film in some capacity, but he is arguably most noted for directing the John Wick series. The series follows the life of John Wick (Keanu Reeves) as he quests for vengeance, retribution, and a hefty payday.Â
Due to join the cast of the next instalment, Donnie Yen is intended to play an old friend of Wick’s with much of the same backstory.Â
Fans of action films might recognise Yen from xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Mulan, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the Ip Man franchise. Yen is a certified badass and is proficient in Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Wushu, and has a history of kickboxing and boxing.

Though further plot details are yet to be released, fans of the franchise can see the direction in which Stahelski is taking. Spoilers ahead-
Wick and Winston (Ian McShane), which sounds like a jaunty cover band, fought their way through soldiers to the top of the Continental Hotel. However, in a show of loyalty to the High Table, Winston shoots Reeves’ character until he falls from the roof. However, this isn’t the end for the dog-loving assassin, as another friend rescues him. No doubt, the fourth instalment of the franchise will see Wick and his collection of rogues go head to head with the High Table.
“We are very lucky to have Donnie Yen join the franchise,” says Stahelski.Â

Executive Producer Basil Iwanyk reiterated their delight in saying: “Donnie Yen will bring a vibrant and powerful energy to the franchise. We were determined to bring him on board to John Wick 4 and are thrilled for the opportunity to have such a major talent to collaborate with Keanu.”
John Wick four is set for a 2022 release, but if you need your fill of Reeves before that, then The Matrix 4 is slated for a December 2021 release.Â
