It’s time to do the truffle shuffle because The Goonies is now on Netflix

Paul Moore

Hey you guys! Best. News. Ever.

To paraphrase the immortal – and incredibly brazen – words of Mouth when the Goonies were caught breaking into The Fratelli’s hideout:

“I want the veal scalopini. I want a good fettucini alfredo. I want a bottle of fettucine, a 1981. And I want The Goonies on Netflix.”

Granted, that line will make absolutely no sense to anyone that doesn’t love Richard Donner’s cult classic but you don’t even need One-Eyed Willie’s treasure map to find one of – if not the greatest – family adventure of all time on Netflix.

Unlike Chunk when he tried to convince his friends that Michael Jackson once came over to his house to use the bathroom, believe us when we say that since Tuesday, the definitive lazy Saturday afternoon film is available to watch.

For any younger generations that may have not seen it yet, the Goonies follows a weird and hilarious group of kids that discover a mysterious treasure map which leads them into a spectacular underground realm of twisting passages, outrageous booby-traps and a long-lost pirate ship full of golden dubloons.

The gang have to stay one step ahead of a family of bumbling bad guys though and a mild-mannered monster with a face only a mother could love.

Simply put, The Goonies is a cult-classic for a million reasons and who doesn’t love lines like “Hey Chunk. You know I got some naked pictures of your mom taking a bath. Wanna buy ’em? Real cheap!” and the whole confession below will always be funny.

Just remember that Goonies never say die!

A. Genuine. Classic.
