It sounds fun
Everyone recognises that Netflix is class, but it’s not without its faults either.
In fact, its greatest strength is probably also its greatest weakness, and that’s that there’s just so much to choose from.
Half the time you might end up spending more time scrolling through the options than you do actually watching something. We know you’ve done it, we won’t judge.
And when you bring TV shows into the equation, it becomes a whole different ballgame.
If it’s a show you’ve seen before, you could then spend even longer going through the episodes before you settle on one to actually watch.
But that may not be a problem that you’ll have for long.
That’s because Netflix are trialling a brand new feature that would see them randomly select an episode of certain shows for immediate viewing.
According to Deadline, the feature would be similar to the shuffle play feature for music playlists, the new feature will help viewers instantly stream an episode of their favourite show when they’re not particularly searching for something specific.
A statement from a Netflix spokesperson confirmed the experiment to Deadline, saying: “We are testing the ability for members to play a random episode from different TV series on the Android mobile app. These tests typically vary in length of time and by region, and may not become permanent.”
Sounds good to us. Here’s hoping it’s trialled on the British version of the streaming service too.
