The short film NYET! depicts a farcical future in which Brie is seized at Dover but AK 47s are not
A comedy film mocks the UK’s post-Brexit future while in reality the country is three days away from crashing out of the European Union without a deal, again. NYET! hits absurdity and farce tinged by darkness, thanks to the inescapable reality of the film’s subject matter.
Set some point in the future, Dover is saturated with standstill traffic as border force search for blackmarket European food products smuggled into the UK.
RPGs and AK 47s are not of concern to them, however.
Olivia Williams, Beatie Edney and Garry Mountaine star with newcomers Gabriella Moran and Dimitri Gripari in the short directed by Alex Helfrecht and Jörg Tittel.
The film has received support from Gina Miller, Jolyon Maugham and David Schneider, the last of whom hosted a screening of the film in London.
Schneider said: “Part of what I’m trying to do is spread a message and change people’s minds. Sometimes I just rage but sometimes I ask, how can I state this hypocrisy in a way that is funny?”
Came across this brilliant little film farce with the fabulous Olivia Williams. Perfectly illustrates that #brexit would be funny if it weren't so serious!
