Contrary to popular belief, he is not Superman’s less famous brother.
Something special happened today. Frankie Muniz turned 32. Also, I watched The Supervet for the very first time.
Going into this, all I knew was that it’s a show about a vet, who is indeed super.
What I didn’t expect to happen was for my entire life to change forever, right in front of my beady little eyes.
Here’s what I learned.
The show fails to address whether the nurses are Super Nurses or just regular ones, but either way they are angels sent from Heaven above
There was a beautiful montage at the top of the show which comprised of so many dogs that I found it hard to stay focused and continue watching objectively. Then, some nurses started talking about the types of animals that they look after in the practice. While I was appreciative of the information they were providing, I was getting anxious. Were these nurses Super Nurses or just regular ones? How did they get this job? When The Supervet puts on his glasses, do they fail to recognise him in the same way that Lois Lane is with Superman?
I don’t want to be negative about this show so early on, but I would’ve appreciated a little more information about these ladies. Specifically, what kind of an application process did their job entail (lol), and most importantly, are we fucking dealing with regular nurses or super ones? Regardless, they spent their working day making sure that precious animals were feeling comfortable and safe. Is there a purer job in existence in this present day? Unlikely. These nurses are angels and we need to get them all knighted immediately.
The Supervet’s office walls are suspiciously easy to green screen
Apologies, but I couldn’t not go to town on the above image when such a prime opportunity as this presented itself. What is The Supervet playing at? Respectfully, he knew that the waiting room would be on telly. He knows there are internet pests such as myself waiting to pounce at every available opportunity. He should know better than to have one block colour on the wall, an obscene shade of blueish green is asking for trouble. Actually, I’m not sorry for photoshopping this heartwarming father/daughter duo into a variety of scenarios. Don’t blame me, blame The Supervet.
Rule number one of television production is to reduce the memeability of your set. Punk teens these days will turn anything in a meme, even a poem about plums in an icebox FFS. While I can appreciate that The Supervet is preoccupied with tending to poorly pets, I can’t ignore the fact that he’s had a massive oversight here. I shall be getting in touch with him to highlight the problem with the wall paint colour, so as to prevent others from doing as I have done, but with less wholesome intentions.
Poppy and her deformed paws helped mend my (metaphorically) deformed heart, proving that dogs are even more precious than we suspected
Poppy arrived into the Supervet’s surgery barely able to walk. She was born with deformed paws that meant she couldn’t even stand up properly. Her owners (the couple I senselessly Photoshopped above) just wanted her to no longer be in pain, whether that meant surgery or even putting her down. Poppy’s face is what I can only describe as HNNNNNG and the nurses instantly fell in love with her, as did I. Poppy was a brave little bitch throughout the procedure, which was long and demanding of The Supervet.
Dr. Noel had to put loads of screws and gross things into her precious little paws to try to straighten them out and I couldn’t look at the screen for the entirety of the operation because it was gross. When Poppy was in recovery mode, she clearly wasn’t very comfortable but still somehow managed to retain her joyous spirit. If that isn’t grounds for the next Disney animated success story then who knows what is.
Poppy was an inspiration to us all. She retained her adorable personality throughout the painful ordeal. In the end, we got to see her having hydrotherapy and I yelped the most unbecoming squeal of delight when her Mum said that Poppy loved being in the water and that her paws were getting stronger every day. Poppy was born with a shitty deck of cards dealt to her, but she never allowed that to dampen her spirits. She went through this massive surgery at such a young age and now has the rest of her life to look forward to with her newly shaped paws. She has taught me to be less of a negative piece of shit because things are ok.
This cat got hit by a car and he was the bravest boy, so stop complaining about whatever bullshit you’re annoyed about today
Berlio further broke my cold and numb heart with his bravery. The little tyke was hit by a car which cracked his jaw, badly damaged his eye and split the roof and base of his mouth completely in two. His owner’s concern made me long for anyone to ever feel the same level of interest in me, because I’m a selfish fuck. The Supervet worked his magic and somehow managed to join his split jaw back together through the wonders of modern medicine and probably PVA glue, I’m assuming.
Berlio’s recovery process was the worst out of all the pets The Supervet tended to in this episode. To realign his jaw, they had to basically glue his teeth together to keep everything in the right place. The poor pet was fed through a tube for weeks and had a limp tongue dangling out of his mouth like some kind of halfwit. He was lucky to survive the car accident, but also it kind of seemed like he would’ve been in less pain if he had just gone ahead and died.
When Berlio finally got to go home to his incredibly attractive family, I was jealous. Jealous of his home life and jealous of his bravery. He was in hospital for weeks, just sitting their bored out of his mind waiting for literal bones in his body to heal. He came uncomfortably close to losing his eye altogether, but somehow managed to make a full recovery from all of his injuries. That cat is braver than I have ever been in my life. Berlio has taught me to stop complaining about my shitty problems because people (and animals) have it far worse than I.
Dylan had a collapsed joint in his leg since he was abandoned, but he finally got it fixed because everything always works out in the end (most of the time)
This sweet angel has had a broken leg since birth and his owners had taken him to a number of vets hoping they could help. Unfortunately, they were all garbage vets and couldn’t do a damn thing. Enter The Supervet, a man who was actually busy that day so they got another vet called Miguel to step in. He fused that wrist together like a champ, giving Dylan a new lease of life that he never thought was possible.
The surgery was extremely risky and invasive, with Dylan’s chances of survival very slim. All I could think about was his owners saying that they wanted a better quality of life for him, one way or another. They used to bring their other two dogs on a separate walk because Dylan could only walk for a very small amount of time before he’d have to give up. Nothing has broken my heart quite like the idea of Dylan sitting patiently at home waiting for his owners to return and take him on a tiny walk.
Miraculously, the final visit with Dylan showed him running freely around the park with his two doggy siblings, without a limp nor care in the world. He fucking did it. Dylan survived a really dangerous surgery and came out the other side. Dylan has taught me never to accept the limitations that appear to be in front of me. Literally anything is possible and life is for living, not feeling restricted by things that are out of my control. Fucking hell this show runs deep. Thank you The Supervet. You have taken me from a substantial piece of shit, to a slightly lesser piece of shit.
