17 things you might have missed in the full trailer for Game of Thrones Season 8

Paul Moore

Game of Thrones fans, it’s time to dig in

It’s finally here! After months and months of waiting, the gods – both old and new – have been good to us and finally delivered the full Game of Thrones trailer for Season 8.

Ok, here’s some things that we spotted that may have slipped under the radar.

Arya’s in trouble

We knew that the White Walkers would attack Winterfell but from the looks of this shot, they’ve actually broken through the walls.

Arya is fleeing something/someone and she has a dragon glass dagger in her hand. Of course, dragon glass is one of the few things that can kill a White Walker/wight.

If Arya – aka one of the best fighters in Westeros – is running from something, you know it’s bad.

Game of Thrones

Davos in command

Jon Snow’s right-hand man is taking charge in the defence of Winterfell. He’s famously said before that he’s not a fighter, but his military prowess will be tested.

He led a battalion in Battle of the Bastards when Jon got reckless and charged at Ramsay, but his last combat at a fortification was a disaster. Davos was defeated at Blackwater by the Lannisters.

The Spider is stuck in a web

Much like the scene in The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers when the women and children take shelter in the mountains behind Helm’s Deep, it appears that Varys has taken refuge from the fighting in the Winterfell crypts.

Note the look of terror on his face.

Could those words that he heard in heard in the fire after a sorcerer castrated him be fulfilled?

Game of Thrones Season 8

Theon’s on a mission

We do see both Greyjoy fleets but it appears that Theon has three ships as he sails to rescue his sister.

We think this is Theon’s crew because his uncle, Euron, usually sails with a different sigil aboard his ship, The Silence (Euron’s sigil has a tinge of red on the kraken)

Here are Euron’s ships when they arrived at King’s Landing in Season 7.

Game of Thrones Season 8

Cersei’s new recruits

We think that this is The Golden Company and their leader, Harry Strickland.

Essentially, they’re hired mercenaries that House Lannister hope will boost their chances in the wars to come.

We last heard them mentioned when Euron Greyjoy fled the meeting at the Dragonpit under the secret orders of Cersei.

Game of Thrones Season 8

Survivors from Eastwatch-By-The-Sea

The last time we saw Tormund and Beric Dondarrion, they were running for their lives as the Night King and his steed, Viserion, brought down The Wall.

Well, it appears that everyone’s favourite ‘mad fucker’ has survived and he’s fighting fit.

Aside from this, we’re fairly certain that this is Dolorous Edd, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, that’s next to them.

Game of Thrones Season 8

Winter town

We’re torn by these two shots.

At first, we thought it might be White Harbor – the port that Jon and Dany plan on heading into as they advance through The North.

However, it’s probably Winter Town – a busy area in the hinterland of Winterfell – because the castle does look an awful like the home of House Stark.

Game of Thrones Season 8

Ours is the Fury

Gendry is embracing his lineage as a sword-smith and it looks like he’s ready for war.

Remember that he’s Robert Baratheon’s bastard son – one of many – but one of the few living notable characters that can continue the legacy of House Baratheon .

Game of Thrones Season 8

Tyrion in combat

The height difference between the three men here would suggest that Tyrion Lannister (far left) does see combat.

Granted, it could be the angle but we think this is Jaime jumping in to protect his little brother.

The trailer is cut in a way to make us believe that Jaime is fighting here but it could also be Brienne.

Game of Thrones Season 8

A grand entrance

That’s Cersei, The Mountain and Qyburn meeting Euron Greyjoy and Harry Strickland – leader of The Golden Company.

Game of Thrones Season 8

A single tear

It appears that Cersei has learned some bad news as she looks away for a quiet moment.

Are her days numbered?

Has she heard that Jon and Daenerys have found out about her treachery?

Does she miss Jaime, or did she get some bad news about her brother/lover?

Game of Thrones Season 8

Foreshadowing

Jon Snow took his Night’s Watch vows at a godswood beyond The Wall.

Has he learned something about his true lineage and destiny here?

Game of Thrones Season 8

Oathkeeper

A timely reminder that Jaime Lannister is rocking some Valyrian steel – a handy weapon when the White Walkers/wights come knocking.

A girl is no one

Notice how the lighting changes here for Arya.

At the start of the trailer, she’s running down darkened halls. This looks more like the Winterfell crypts.

Could she be making a last stand while fighting on the bones of her forefathers?

Game of Thrones Season 8

A squire no more

Podrick is actually fighting alongside Brienne. Also, we’re not exactly sure why, but the trailer had no shots of Bronn. Take from that what you will.

Game of Thrones Season 8

A Dream of Spring?

We all know that winter is here but it’s interesting that King’s Landing is still basking in sunlight.

Granted, it could just be a case that the dark and dreary conditions haven’t made their way south, but the last time we saw the capital, the snow was beginning to fall.

Ok, the conditions could still abide by the usual rules of night follows day, but it is an interesting image.

This shot is either right at the very start of Season 8, or at the end as the darkness has cleared.

Either way, the Lannister banner is still staying strong.

Winter is here

The Night King has his dragon, so we’re thinking that this could be one of his general’s arriving via dead horse.

After all, as we learned in Season 7, one blow to the White Walkers sees their minions/army of the dead perish.

If the Night King is clever, he’ll refrain from any danger and avoid getting his hands dirty.

The Battle of Winterfell is upon us.

Game of Thrones Season 8

14 April can’t come soon enough.
