Gino D’Acampo rants at children on This Morning after they admit to liking pineapple on pizza

Kyle Picknell

Consider the matter settled.

Some people believe the world is flat. Some people believe that Danny Welbeck should be on the plane to Russia. Some people believe pineapple is an acceptable pizza topping. Sure they are all dumb opinions, but any reasonable person would agree that it is that last bracket of individual who has gone too far in their beliefs.

Gino D’Acampo is both: a) a Italian b) a chef – and therefore must be considered an authority on subject. So, should he rant at a small child on national television, after they admit their favourite pizza is ham and pineapple, then I think we should listen. I think, as a collective, we should take it on board.

Watch it in full here:

The incident occurred during a segment in which Gino was teaching a group of schoolchildren how to make pizza. It was in that moment, in the eyes of thousands of viewers, one of them made the mistake of revealing their favourite toppings.

“My one’s ham and pineapple,” said Poppy, seemingly unaware of the intense, historical debate surrounding her choice.

Gino was livid:  “Pineapple, a fruit, on a pizza?”

When presenter Ruth Langsford asked what is actually wrong with having pineapple on a pizza (a foolish, foolish question) it only succeeded in enraging the TV chef further.

“Pineapple should never be on a pizza. It’s like putting an apple on a pizza” he stated, before adding that in his native Italy Hawaiian pizzas simply don’t exist.

Hank Scorpio once asked Homer Simpson which country was his least favourite out of Italy and France: nobody ever says Italy – and it can’t be a coincidence that it is a country where the ‘Hawaiian’ isn’t a thing.
