Rumours have been circulating for a while that one of Playstation’s most iconic franchises could be getting a reboot.
We’re still waiting on official confirmation that a new Crash Bandicoot game is in development, but comments from one of its voice actors have us pretty excited.
Lex Lang is a voice actor who has had a long career in animation, films and video games. One of his most notable roles was providing the voice for Dr Neo. Cortex , Crash’s arch enemy in the series. Lang posted a cryptic message to his Facebook page this week that seems to strongly hint of a return for the PS1 stalwart.
The post, which was spotted by Neogaf, read: “Wow! What a throwback Thursday! This week I have been asked to resurrect three different characters that I voiced from 3 different games gone by. A doctor, a devil and a droid/AI. Unfortunately that’s all I’m allowed to disclose at this time. Stay tuned for more details!! Very excited about those!!”
Now, while he doesn’t specifically name Cortex as one of the characters, Lang seems to only have played two video game doctors – the other being Doctor Doom in 2013’s Marvel Heroes. Not long after the Facebook post appeared, a Crash Bandicoot fan account tweeted the actor in an attempt to tease some more information.
@LexLang ;)??

And just to add fuel to the fire, Lex Lang liked the tweet. Obviously none of this can be taken as an announcement that Crash is back, but it only adds to recent hints from those close to Sony. At last year’s E3 show, Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden trolled gamers by wearing a Crash Bandicoot t-shirt on stage. It sent the internet into a frenzy of anticipation that Sony might announce the comeback in its conference. That didn’t happen, but all eyes will be on next month’s E3 2016 to see if the rumours are finally going to materialise.
The last proper Crash Bandicoot game was 2008’s Crash: Mind Over Mutant. Why you’re thinking about gaming in the good old days, why not take our quiz on 90s video game characters.
