Holy sh*tting hell. What a mistake to make.
Lenny Henry received a knighthood today for his services to drama and charity. Now Sir Lenny has worked tirelessly for charity – including his sterling Red Nose efforts – for decades.
He was also a seminal figure in seventies and eighties’ comedy, becoming one of the first black comedians to achieve mainstream success in this country.
It was with reference to Henry’s achievements regarding diversity that ITV News reported on Henry’s royal honour. And they even used some footage of the comic’s standup routine.
Except they didn’t. Embarrassingly, they broadcast images of Ainsley Harriott at the Comedy Store. The celebrity chef having very little in common with Sir Lenny Henry at all…
