Recently there’s been a spate of disputes involving Presidential candidates in the US using rock tunes without permission.
A perfect example is Donald Trump using REM’s music during his Republican leadership campaign trail – much to the band’s chagrin.
Well Stephen Colbert has sought to help out prospective POTUS wannabes by creating his own patriotic anthem for them to use.
Accompanying by the brilliant Jack Black, Colbert’s power ballad is “generic enough not to offend anyone, but generic enough to be loved by everyone.”
Watching the marvellously overblown rendition on the Late Show, it’s hard to argue.
God bless America – and God bless Stephen Colbert for continuing to satirise the OTT nonsense of American politics…
