If you’re getting a little bit excited by the return of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, you’re not alone.
Everyone is chalking off the days before the former Top Gear trio make their glorious return to our screens on their new show The Grand Tour on November 18.
It’s been 20 months since Clarkson and Co were last seen arsing about in cars and taking the piss out of each other, so we’ll be glad to have them back.
We’ve only seen mere snippets of what’s in store for their big budget new Amazon Prime show.
So Clarkson, Hammond and May came out and to explain just what we can expect from The Grand Tour…well they tried anyway.
“It’s three middle-aged men in poor condition,” Clarkson says, “falling over and catching fire and occasionally a car goes by.”
Hammond then reveals “There are cars in it,” with Clarkson adding, “It’s very exciting, it’s quite funny.”
“We like it,” Hammond then pipes up.
Having another stab at defining what GT is all about, Clarkson says “It really is three men with bad teeth and hangovers.”
May later explains “I play the part of me.” Hammond adds “Yeah, he does… he does it very well.”
“It’s a great show,” finishes Clarkson.
So there you have it, there are some cars, they’re hungover and they occasionally catch fire. And James May is his usual self.
The one thing they didn’t mention anything about is Top Gear. That’s because they’re terrified of being sued by the BBC’s intellectual property lawyers who keeping an eagle eye on every move they make in The Grand Tour.
Clarkson previously explained that they had to make it as different as they could to Top Gear, while keeping the same brilliant chemistry, humour and japery that made their former show a huge global success.
Sadly that means getting rid of some of our most-loved features like The Stig, The Star in the Reasonably Priced Car and even The Cool Wall.
We’re sure they’ve got some new tricks up their sleeves though, right boys?
