Jeremy Clarkson spent a fuck load of money making Grand Tour’s opening sequence

This show is going to be obscene...

The Grand Tour is shaping up to be one hell of a show.

Amazon Prime went and recruited the best in the business in Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May to front up the new online motoring show.

Then they threw a fuck load of money at them, giving them £4.5m per episode to pretty much do whatever the hell they wanted.

But if you were in any doubt how ludicrously over-the-top the trio’s new post-Top Gear venture is going to be, then stop right there.

With Clarkson at the helm we’re not surprised about the news that the Grand Tour’s opening sequence is going to be the most expensive in TV history.

Sources told The Sun that Jezza and Co have spunked a cool £2.5m on the show’s opening scenes and it sounds like its going to be extravagant to say the least.

The newspaper reports how the former Top Gear pals drove through the Californian desert in customised red, white and blue Ford Mustangs followed by a motorcade of “150 cars, 2,000 ‘petrolheads’, acrobats, stilt-walkers and six jet planes.”

Those 150 motors were reportedly worth upwards of £20m and included a Bugatti Veyron as well as a Rolls-Royce.

“Nothing remotely like it has been seen before,” a source told The Sun.  We don’t doubt it for a second.

There is barely a month to go before the first episode of The Grand Tour goes live on Amazon Prime on November 18 and we were given a cheeky taster of things to come…

The trio were given a £160m budget to mess around with, so we can only begin to imagine what ludicrous things they’ve been splashing this cash on.

The show’s first episode comes from California and has been filmed in a giant ‘studio tent’ in front of a TV audience.

However, as the name suggests, The Grand tour will be traversing the globe to a host of exotic and extreme locations where Clarkson, Hammond and May will no doubt be raising hell behind the wheel of some ridiculous cars.
