You know it’s nearly Christmas when the festive adverts start popping up on telly.
Even though it’s still early fucking November, even the most Bah Humbug amongst us can’t help but have a flicker of excitement about Crimbo when they come on.
The supermarkets aren’t hanging about this year in their increasingly mawkish attempts at selling us crap we don’t want or need, with Xmas ads that tug at our heart strings.
But there’s only one that anyone really seems to give a shit about and that’s the annual John Lewis ad.
There are probably people counting down from mid July to see what sentimental stuff the department store are going to serve up this year.
Thousands of people were even fooled into thinking John Lewis had released their advert early when a video went viral that actually turned out to be an A-Level student’s coursework.
Things reached fever pitch though when a supposed snippet of the advert went up online of this year’s advert which seems to feature a cute dog called Bounce.

Even thinking back to last year’s rather strange ‘Man on the Moon advert (which some loved for the heartfelt Christmas message and others questioned whether he was some sort of ‘Moon Hitler’) doesn’t seemed to have dampened anyone’s enthusiasm.

But finally after much hype and expectation, John Lewis have finally announced the date when their advert will launch…and when we can all legitimately put our Christmas decorations up.
The eagerly-awaited commercial will be broadcast on Thursday at 9.15pm during the finale of ITV drama Paranoid, according to Metro.
If you even have a TV any more, crank it up, pour yourself a mulled wine and set the VCR to ‘record’ – because it’s probably going to be pretty special.
