It looks like a major character is about to be killed off.
New photos have shown that another death is coming to Albert Square.
Jessie Wallace and Davood Ghadami, who play Kat Slater and Kush Kazemi, were spotted on set wearing funeral clobber and it looks like the victim will be Shakil Kazemi.
The storyline that sees his demise will focus on knife-crime – paying tribute to the late Ben Kinsella, who was stabbed to death in London in 2008 in an unprovoked attack. Ben’s sister Brooke Kinsella previously played Kelly Taylor on the show.
It comes after the Daily Star previously claimed the character – played by Shaheen Jafargholi – is likely to get stabbed, with a show insider telling the publication: “Producers are having a big clear-out, waving goodbye to some massive characters to make sure the show feels fresh.
“No firm decisions have been made but it’s highly possible Shakil’s attack could be a big part of his exit storyline.”
The 21-year-old has been in the role less than two years, but it comes after Richard Blackwood, Lee Ryan, Jenna Russell and Maggie Steed all left the show.
Though, apparently the actor isn’t too fussed about being written out of the show as he is keen to pursue a music career. The source added: “Shaheen loves being part of EastEnders but he’s got other ambitions.”
