Liam Gallagher has responded to Robbie Williams’ recent comments stating that he’d love to collaborate with the ex-Oasis frontman with: “I’m sure he does”.
Robbie recently praised Liam, speaking to NME: “I’d do a song with him. My favourite song of the year is his track ‘For What It’s Worth’. I think it’s the best song either Liam or Noel has written in the last 20 years.”
“It’s amazing and timeless; it just hits that sweet spot. It’s universal and speaks straight to the heart. He just got it completely right. I love it.”
Gallagher went on to reply to Williams’ comments, agreeing wholeheartedly with the Angels singer’s take on things.
“Yeah, I get it, man,” Liam replied. “I think what he said was right: it’s universal, it’s classic, it’s instant.”
Williams had previously called Gallagher “fucking amazing”, following a ongoing feud that has spanned almost three decades. Williams claims that a duet from the pair would “shock the world”.
When told about Robbie wanting to work with him, Gallagher said: “I’m sure he does. It’s not happening, is it?”
“Fair play to him,” Liam added, “he’s got his kids now and all that stuff’s under the bridge. We grow up and do our thing, but I don’t think me and him singing together would be a wise move.”
The Take That star and Gallagher have a long and complicated history, spanning decades, partners and on-camera calls to fight.
Tensions came to an all-time high at the 2000 Brit Awards when Williams exclaimed, “Would anybody like to see me fight Liam? Would you pay to come and see it? Liam, a hundred grand of your money and a hundred grand of my money. We’ll get in a ring and we’ll have a fight and you can all watch it on TV, what d’you think about that?”
Fisticuffs never followed and Williams was shortly escorted from the stage.
