In 2017, Louis C.K. was accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct
People are calling into question whether so-called ‘cancel culture’ exists after comedian Louis C.K. received a nomination for the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The comedian has received a nomination in the Best Comedy Album category for his most recent special, Sincerely Louis C.K.
However in 2017, several women came forward and accused C.K. of sexually inappropriate behaviour, including masturbating in front of them without their consent. C.K. later admitted to this and in a statement in November of that year said he had wielded power “irresponsibly.”
In Sincerely Louis C.K., he jokes: “I like jerking off, I don’t like being alone, that’s all I can tell you. I get lonely, it’s just sad.
“I like company. I like to share. I’m good at it, too. If you’re good at juggling, you wouldn’t do it alone in the dark. You’d gather folks and amaze them.”
C.K. also makes jokes on the subjects of racism, necrophilia, paedophilia and disabilities within his new special.
Meanwhile fellow comic Dave Chappelle, who recently also complained about ‘cancel culture’ after causing controversy for comments he made about trans people, has also picked up a nomination for the same award next year.
Many have used the fact that the two comedians have been nominated for a major awards show as proof that ‘cancel culture’ really doesn’t exist.

One person tweeted: “Don’t talk to me about “cancel culture” when louis ck was just nominated for a f**king grammy.”
Another wrote: “For those monitoring the deep struggles of cancel culture, Dave Chappelle and Louis CK were both nominated for Grammys today.”
Another simply couldn’t hide their shock.

Meanwhile comedian Bridget Christie offered her own biting take on C.K.’s nomination…

And a final user added: “Dave Chapelle and Louis CK have both got grammy nominations today.
“So that’s where things are at.”
