“Most of what I see on that platform is negative and demotivating,” says Dr Alex
Former Love Island contestant Dr Alex George, who is a huge advocate for mental health services, has revealed he had to delete his Twitter account to protect his own mental health. George took to his Instagram to explain his decision making.

“I have decided to delete my Twitter account. I believe we should all take the necessary steps to protect our mental well-being and be brave in creating boundaries where this could be affected.
“I have not made this decision because I have been trolled. Most of what I see on that platform is negative and demotivating. Life is far too short. Do not be afraid to take action to protect your mental health. You have that right.”
He continued: “Social media has incredible power for good if used correctly and I am so proud of the community we have here #CancelNegativity”.

In other Love Island news, the show has recently been in the news for questions over contestant welfare. Most recently, after the return of Casa Amor, islanders Teddy and Faye engaged in an explosive argument with one another. People online were quick to criticise the show: “Faye is on a total self-destruct mission and it’s really uncomfortable to watch”.
“Faye saying “sorry rarely leaves my lips” is actually a huge red flag. She struggles to have any form of accountability to understand that she can be wrong in situations. I wouldn’t be surprised if this repeats itself on the outside world,” wrote another.
But ITV responded to the reaction, speaking to the Mirror:
“We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset.
“All the Islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on-site and by their friends in the villa.
“Islanders can always reach out and talk to someone if they feel the need.”
