Married at First Sight’s last remaining couple confirm divorce

That makes it a perfect 10/10 record for the show. A superb achievement.

Will this suffering never end?

Married at First Sight is a television show which sees people to get married to a complete stranger who they have never met before. Why would you get married to a complete stranger? Well, the show claim to have a team of ‘experts’ who believe they can find you your ideal partner, using ‘science’.

‘Experts’ and ‘science’ are in quotation marks there because, of course, the show’s third season saw all ten couples get divorced. You have to hand it to Married, not only did they not manage to achieve what the entire premise of the show is based on, they didn’t even do it slightly, not even a fraction. They had literally no success. A 0% success rate. In fact, they unequivocally managed to do the exact opposite of what they set out to: they made 20 people who had never met fall out with each other. That wouldn’t have happened without Married. It’s actually phenomenal work, if you think about it.

You can see it in his eyes, can’t you?

The last dominoes to fall were couple Ben and Stephanie, who promised to give their marriage a shot at the end of the final episode of the series. This Thursday, Ben appeared on Fubar Radio explaining how he had split from his wife of a few weeks and that, gulp, “he hopes they can still be friends”. Ouch. It must have been a messy one.

Apparently, things took a huge downturn after literally the first date and the couple, despite giving it a bloody good go, a really good try, fell apart. Which is upsetting, really. If people who get married on a television show to a complete stranger they’ve never even seen before can’t make a relationship last, then what chance is there for the rest of us?

Unsurprisingly, Married are looking for new participants. With the way it’s going, surely by the law of averages they’ll get a perfect match soon, right?
