Ah, managers, they’re just like us
Every man and his dog have been spending the last week discussing the finale to Game of Thrones, which I must stress we will be spoiling tremendously in this article, so if you’ve not watched it then leave this article now.
It wasn’t just regular people watching the show however, football managers were also enjoying/hating it. Namely, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, who was watching the show fervently.
Speaking to talkSPORT this week, the Argentine coach revealed that like almost everyone else he was rather disappointed with how HBO’s adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s epic series of books was wrapped up.
In the final episode, Bran Stark is named king after the lords and ladies of Westeros decide that a hereditary monarchy just wasn’t a good idea.
“It was an amazing series but the last year [last season] it was like, ‘we need to finish, how can we finish?'” he said.
“I don’t know, it didn’t make sense! There was no common sense!
“I think we all feel the same, not only myself. I think all the people are not happy with the way it finished.”
During the interview ahead of next weekend’s Champions League final between Spurs and Liverpool, Pochettino also revealed that his dog Sansa was – shock horror – named after Sansa Stark, one of the main characters in the show.
