Narcos fans will love Netflix’s new gangster epic about the biggest corruption scandal of all time

Paul Moore

Miss Narcos? You’ll be watching this then.

It appears that Hollywood is finally taking notice of the superb gangster dramas and films that are being produced around the world.

With Stefano Sollima, an Italian director known for his gritty features like Suburra and the Gomorrah TV series, taking over the reigns of Sicario II: Soldado, it’s clear that studios realise that at the minute, the best gangster dramas are being made elsewhere.

In terms of blazing a trail, the superb Narcos has been incredibly addictive for anyone that loves tales of crime, drugs, violence, villains, and heroes.

It also helps that the production values are slick, the story is interesting and the show is well acted.

As we wait for the next season of Narcos, the producers are keeping themselves busy because they’re about to unleash a new crime epic for Netflix viewers to binge on, The Mechanism.

At the start of the year, we mentioned this as one of our most eagerly-anticipated new shows and the latest trailer is a treat.

Get ready to join a small group of dogged investigators on the hunt to discover the inner workings of the biggest corruption scandal of all time and the impact their pursuit will have on everyone involved.

The Mechanism is a fictional drama series that’s loosely inspired by the investigation about allegations of corruption of state and privately owned oil and construction companies in Brazil.

José Padilha has already proven himself to be a very talented director (Narcos, Elite Squad 1 & 2, RoboCop) are some of the shows he has worked on and we’re more than confident that he’s going to deliver a drama that’s just as addictive as Narcos.

The Mechanism premieres 23 March 2018 on Netflix.

Take a look.
