Netflix turns cancelled TV series into the most-watched show worldwide

The series had been cancelled last year

A TV series cancelled last summer after three seasons has become the most-watched show worldwide after Netflix released a brand new fourth series on its platform.

Manifest was cancelled by NBC in June 2021 after three series but Netflix decided to pick up the rights for the show’s reruns.

These were so popular that the streaming platform created a fourth season, and the first 10 episodes were dropped on November 4.

The IMDb page for Manifest explains that the show tells the story of an airplane full of passengers that “suddenly reappears after being missing for five years. As those aboard reintegrate into society, they experience guiding voices and visions of events yet to occur, and soon a deeper mystery unfolds.”

The show stars Melissa Roxburgh, Once Upon a Time actor Josh Dallas, Jessica Jones actor J.R. Ramirez and Fresh Off The Boat actress Luna Blaise.

The fourth season is 20 episodes long in total, so another 10 episodes are on the way.

After the first half of the season was released on Netflix, the show’s official Twitter account reported that it was “the #1 series on Netflix worldwide with over 57 million hours streamed.”

Roxburgh, told The Hollywood Reporter that Netflix gave the show quite a bit of creative freedom for the fourth season.

Netflix bought us for a reason, and it felt like they trusted those creatives on the show to keep doing what they had been doing,’ she said. “They had their input, but there was just a lot more trust and freedom from Netflix as opposed to NBC.”

She added that she was glad they got another season because all of the stars “would have been a little bit depressed” if they hadn’t.

“I’m happy that Netflix brought us back, not only to finish the story but to give everyone a proper goodbye,” she said.
