Bulge in pants
It’s one of those that felt like it was always an eternity away but Rockstar Games have officially announced that development on GTA 6Â is “well underway” and the next instalment in the much-beloved franchise is coming.
Teasing the future of the franchise in an announcement on Twitter, the developers revealed that “active development for the next entry” has begun and that they will be sharing more news sometime soon.
We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.

Posting an update on their Rockstar Newswire site, they informed players of updates on GTA Online, The Contract DLC and “What’s Next” for the studio:
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.
On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!”
It won’t surprise you to know that we know very little about the next entry beyond rumours, though what is out there is potentially very interesting.
As well as rumblings that the latest iteration could feature the series’ first female protagonist, there is also talk of an ever-evolving Fortnite-esque map as opposed to the standard albeit carnage-filled sandbox.
Early suggestions are that we won’t get to see it’s release until 2025, but who it really is too early to tell, we just can’t wait for the first trailers to drop.
GTA 6—GTA VI*, we can’t cope with all the excitement – who cares?! The next GTA game has been confirmed and we couldn’t be happier, basically.
