Sex and the City stars pay tribute
The Sex and the City star Willie Garson, who appeared in more than 75 films and 300+ episodes across various TV shows, has sadly died aged 57.
Garson, who was best known for playing Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker’s) best friend, Standford Blatch, in the hit HBO show had recently been filming with the SatC crew ahead of the upcoming reboot.
Executive producer Michael Patrick King said he had been working “even while he was sick”, without having given any details as to his illness. Members of the cast and his fellow acting peers have been paying tribute.
Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda in the show, had this to say:
So deeply, deeply sad we have lost @WillieGarson. We all loved him and adored working with him. He was endlessly funny on-screen and and in real life. He was a source of light, friendship and show business lore. He was a consummate professional— always. pic.twitter.com/G63EJIj8lG

Comedy legend Ben Stiller also passed on his condolences to Garson’s family, telling to son Nathen (20) that his dad was a deeply kind and funny man, as well as being “strong and respected in his community of fellow actors”.
Sending love to @WillieGarson’s son Nathen. Your dad was strong and respected in his community of fellow actors and his philanthropy was constant and committed. I’m grateful I knew him. He was also really really funny.❤️

Sarah Jessica Parker herself, who remained close friends with Garson outside of the show, has yet to comment on his sudden passing.
Parker recently suffered the loss of her close business partner, George Malkemus, just a matter of days ago – she is said to be “utterly heartbroken” over his death.
Nevertheless, speaking on behalf of the HBO family, the network described him as “a light for everyone in his universe”.
Willie Garson was in life, as on screen, a light for everyone in his universe. He created one of HBO's most beloved characters and was a member of our family for nearly 25 years.
